  • Kyle Mitchell, a lawyer/developer has equipped to popular package managers to support SPDX
    • NPM for JavaScript
    • Ruby Grems for Ruby
    • Capabilities
      • Check license for ID package metadata and flag issues
      • Supporting both SPDX Short IDs and expression language
      • Checks live current SPDX license list
      • Similar to UBoot syntax but extended to include expressions
  • GitHub new mirrors our tools repo hosted by LF
    • This has started to increase visibility and awareness
    • Enabled Kyle to contribute to tools
  • JSON format has been added to the license formats
    • Not officially supported...yet, but should be
  • Other community news
    • Poco projects and Linaro open dataplane now including SPDX short IDs
    • OpenChain adopted as part of best practices doc

    • Alternatives have been described and are under discussion
    • Good time to get involved with Tech Team if you are interested in snippets
  • Wiki now maintains a list of upcoming topics
